The 2025 National Children’s Month Celebration carries the powerful theme: “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” This theme focuses on ending Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children and the spread of Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials. As technology becomes part of everyday life, children are more exposed to online dangers. Because of this, it is important to raise awareness and remind everyone that protecting children is not only the responsibility of parents, but of the whole society. In my view, the Philippine government has been taking important steps to protect children’s safety, dignity, and rights. Laws such as the Anti-Child Pornography Act (RA 9775) and the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act (RA 7610) help punish those who harm children. Government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine National Police – Women and Children Protection Desk (PNP-WCPD), and the Department of Justice work together to rescue victims and prosecute offenders. These efforts show that the government recognizes how serious the problem of OSAEC and CSAEM is. However, I believe more action is still needed. Many cases of online abuse remain unreported because children and even parents do not know where to seek help. Stronger internet monitoring, digital literacy programs, and community education are necessary so that children can be safer online. Schools also play a big role by teaching students about responsible internet use and how to protect themselves from strangers and harmful content. Overall, I strongly support the theme of this year’s National Children’s Month. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe environment where their rights are respected. Ending OSAEC and CSAEM is a difficult fight, but with cooperation between the government, families, schools, and communities, it is possible to create a safer future for Filipino children
